PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.9 struck southern Haiti early Tuesday, killing at least four people and injuring 36 others, authorities said.The quake struck before dawn near the southwestern coastal city of Jeremie at a depth of six miles (10 kilometers), according to the U.S. Geological Survey.“I thought the whole house was going to fall on top of me,” Eric Mpitabakana, a World Food Program official in Jeremie, told The Associated Press by phone.Two homes collapsed in the quake, and a key route that connects Jeremie and Les Cayes was blocked, according to Haiti’s Civil Protection Agency.Three of the people who died were found under a collapsed house where rescuers were searching for more people, Frankel Maginaire, with Haiti’s Civil Protection Agency in Jeremie told the AP.He said that several children were hospitalized with injuries they received after they panicked and ran.A crowd of people gathered around one home that collapse...

Miami residents, leaders and business owners are demanding Miami City Commissioner Joe Carollo to step down from his position when he was found liable in a federal civil case and ordered to pay $63 million after he harassed business owners in Little Havana. Opening statements in the trial of a former Boston attorney accused of rape got underway on Tuesday in Boston.Gary Zerola, 51, once worked as a prosecutor for the state and was once named one of “People” magazine’s top 50 bachelors.Now, he’s facing two counts of rape in connection with an incident in 2016 where prosecutors said he allegedly attacked the friend of a woman he had been dating. In opening statements, a prosecutor told jurors the victim was 23 and had been out drinking with Zerola and other friends before falling asleep in Zerola’s friend’s apartment. Car crashes into building in Newburyport

Police and fire crews responded Tuesday morning after officials said a car crashed into a building in Newburyport. A spokesperson said the incident happened in the Port Plaza Shopping Center off Storey Avenue. The spokesperson said the car’s 77-year-old operator was taken to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. A person inside the dental office that was hit was struck, the spokesperson said, but was not taken to a hospital. Officials filed an immediate threat license suspension against the driver, according to the spokesperson.SKY7-HD over the scene showed crews working to remove the car from the building.
