NEW YORK (AP) — It’s been a central argument for the United Auto Workers union: If Detroit's three automakers raised CEO pay by 40% over the past four years, workers should get similar raises.UAW President Shawn Fain has repeatedly cited the figure, contrasting it with the 6% pay raises autoworkers have received since their last contract in 2019. He opened negotiations with a demand for a similar 40% wage increase over four years, along with the return of pensions and cost of living increases. The UAW has since lowered its demand to a 36% wage increase but the two sides remain far apart in contract talks, triggering a strike. Armed man breaks into Fort Lauderdale apartment, sexually batters woman, police say

A Fort Lauderdale woman was the victim of sexual battery after an armed man broke into her apartment and went on the attack, police said.According to Fort Lauderdale Police, the incident took place at the Pine Crest Apartments along Northeast 18th Avenue, at around 7:30 p.m., Friday.Neighbors told 7News the man broke into the woman’s first-floor apartment, and they heard her screaming.Detectives said the victim was inside when the perpetrator entered her unit through the front door, went to the bedroom and jumped on top of her.Police said the armed subject threatened to kill the woman before he sexually battered her and fled northbound down the hallway.Neighbors said the woman is now too afraid to even come back home, adding they hope the complex’s management will take steps to make the building more secure.Investigators are hoping someone or any nearby surveillance cameras may have captured the man either leaving or entering the apartment building.Investigators describe...

A pilot walked away after a WWI-era historic plane crash-landed at the American Heritage Museum during an airshow event Sunday morning, Stow officials reported.Just after 11 a.m., the Stow Police and Fire departments received reports of a plane crash near Barton Road and the American Heritage Museum, according to a release.At the scene, first responders found a WWI-era Nieuport 28 at the end of the runway flipped upside down, officials said.The plane only had one occupant, the pilot, who removed himself before the officials arrived and did not report any injuries.The preliminary investigation determined the single engine plane’s front landing gear had failed during the attempted landing, officials reported, causing the plane to flip over on its roof.The American Heritage Museum, located in Hudson near Stow, features a range of military artifacts and demonstrations. CAIRO (AP) — Four Greek rescue workers dispatched to Libya following devastating flooding in the eastern city of Derna were killed in a road collision Sunday, Libya’s health minister said. Some 11,300 people died when two dams collapsed during Mediterranean storm Daniel last week sending a wall of water gushing through the city, according to the Red Crescent aid group.
