Suspect wanted in double hit-and-run crash

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego County Crime Stoppers on Tuesday released photos of a vehicle suspected of striking two people in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood last month, leaving one of the pedestrians seriously injured.The hit-and-run crash occurred on Aug. 26 around 3:36 a.m. as the two pedestrians left a business in the 4800 block of University Avenue, the local organization said in a news release. While they were walking in the alley between 4000 Estrella Avenue and 4000 48th Street, a vehicle driving northbound in the alley struck the two men and left the scene, according to officials. One of the pedestrians, a 39-year-old, suffered a serious injury. 'Jetcar' aims to make waves in San Diego

SAN DIEGO -- Get ready to take a spin in a new type of watercraft that is making waves.With the appearance of a sports car and the power of a jet ski, the Jetcar is expected to be available for use soon in the San Diego area, according to the company.FOX 5's Heather Lake was in the San Diego Bay on Tuesday test-riding the Jetcar with a representative from the personal watercraft dealer. VIDEO: Dolphins swim through bioluminescent waters in Orange County The Jetcar, which is Coast Guard approved, allows riders to cruise the water in style and comfort. It seats two and has an acceleration speed of 60 mph.Drivers must be 18 years and older with a valid driving license. For those who want to experience the Jetcar, the test drive location will be at 2801 W Coast Hwy in Newport Beach. You must book 48 hours in advance and be a potential buyer. The duration of the ride will be for 60 minutes, with one of Jetcar's representatives accompanying you.

Delayed by plane troubles, Trudeau finally returns to Canada from India

Cybersecurity incident affects services at The Weather Network

The parent company of The Weather Network says it was affected by a cybersecurity incident that took down some of its data systems.Pelmorex Corp. says in a statement that the incident was connected to a third-party software provider.The system outage appears to have started Tuesday morning. The company says the weather data systems of both The Weather Network and its French-language equivalent MétéoMédia were affected.Pelmorex says it is working to fully restore services as soon as possible.The company says it has contacted cybersecurity experts about the incident and an investigation is underway.This report by The Canadian Press was first published Sept. 12, 2023.The Canadian Press

Newsom says California will intervene in court case blocking San Francisco from clearing encampments

Gavin Newsom said Tuesday the state will intervene in an ongoing federal court case that’s barred San Francisco from cleaning up homeless encampments until more shelter beds are available, saying the judge has gone too far and is preventing the state from solving a critical problem. “I hope this goes to the Supreme Court,” Newsom said. “And that’s a hell of a statement coming from a progressive Democrat.”Newsom made his remarks during an interview with news outlet Politico in Sacramento. City of St. Louis yet to take action on makeshift homeless encampments

ST. LOUIS – A man fears his pregnant wife may give birth on the lawn of St. Louis City Hall. The couple lives there in a tent. The City of St. Louis has been allowing people to live there, as well as on city sidewalks and alleys.A group of residents in south St. Louis took action on their own Tuesday.It’s been four weeks since FOX 2 first told you about a makeshift shelter made from blankets and shopping carts in front of someone’s house on the sidewalk at Chippewa and Spring in south St. Louis.The City of St. Louis has allowed a couple to stay there for two years. The shelter keeps growing in size and has now encroached about four feet into the street from the curb on Spring Avenue.A similar shelter popped up Tuesday morning in an alley about five blocks away.
