BATAVIA, Ill. — A man is dead after going on a two-day-long crime spree that ended in a shootout with police at a busy intersection in Batavia Near Geneva late Wednesday afternoon, according to Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain.Police said the suspect had been on a 48-hour suburban crime spree when he carjacked a vehicle in Aurora. Kane County Sheriff's Deputies spotted the stolen vehicle in the area of Randall Road and Silver Glen in South Elgin and pursued him, which led to a Kane County sheriff's deputy using their vehicle to stop the suspect, who was in a Honda Accord, near the intersection of Fabyan Parkway and Randall Road shortly before 4 p.m.Once the vehicle was stopped, deputies deployed a K-9 to subdue the man getting out of the Accord, who displayed a weapon toward deputies. An exchange of gunfire ensued where the K-9 and the suspect were hit.The suspect was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, while the K-9 — named Hudson — later succumbed to his injuries and also died....

Algonquin man sentenced to 50 years for murder of his mother, stepfather

MCHENRY COUNTY, Ill. -- An Algonquin man was sentenced to 50 years Tuesday after being found guilty of the murder of his mother and stepfather in 2021.According to the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office, officers with the Algonquin Police Department responded to the 400 block of La Fox River Drive for a check for a well-being check on November 30, 2021, after a resident, Peter Almen, failed to show up to work that day. (KRON) -- Trader Joe's Instant Cold Brew Coffee has been recalled due to potential glass inside the container, the company said in an email Wednesday. Trader Joe's says all products have been removed from its shelves.Those who have the product with expiration date codes 6/13/2024, 11/26/2024 and 12/30/2024 are asked not to use them. Police: Man found pinned under lawnmower, dies from injuries

MAYFIELD, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police are investigating after a man died when he became pinned underneath a lawnmower. Around 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, a 79-year-old man was found unresponsive off of State Route 30 in the town of Mayfield. Police said he was partially pinned underneath a lawnmower and in a creek.The man received CPR but died from his injuries. It is unclear if he had a medical emergency or possibly drowned. A cause of death is pending autopsy results.The investigation is ongoing.
