The goal for the Gophers men’s basketball team on Wednesday was to take the next step.It was a modest movement, but Minnesota did what they couldn’t in Ben Johnson’s first postseason a year ago: win a first-round Big Ten tournament game.The 14th-seeded Gophers overcame an ugly start to take an 11-point lead and weathered a late drought to knock off 11th-seed Nebraska 78-75 in Chicago. Frontline workers from three St. Paul departments — Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and St. Paul Regional Water Services — voted Wednesday night to authorize a strike, the latest salvo in city contract negotiations that have stalled over wage increases.The vote does not mean a strike is imminent. 2 killed, 1 injured in Lincoln County, Missouri domestic dispute

LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. - Police are investigating a triple shooting Wednesday night.The shooting occurred before 8:15 p.m. at the 2500 block of Highway W. Capt. David Hill with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said officers received a call at the location about a domestic dispute, and when they arrived, two people were found dead with gunshot wounds. Another person was injured.According to Hill, the third victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Gavin Newsom tested positive for COVID-19, according to his office.He is reportedly exhibiting mild symptoms, and he will self-isolate while working from home for at least five days.His office said he will be joining Attorney General Rob Bonta and other state leaders virtually to make a “major announcement” on Thursday. Newsom is also slated to begin a statewide tour beginning March 16 instead of delivering a State of the State address. City of Richmond reports first homicide of 2023

RICHMOND, Calif. (KRON) -- One person was killed in a shooting in Richmond Wednesday morning, the city's police department confirmed to KRON4. The homicide was the city's first of 2023.Police received ShotSpotter notifications on the 2300 block of Aberdeen Way at 11:24 a.m. Officers responded and attempted to provide medical care to the victim, but they died at the scene. Nobody was arrested in connection with the shooting, police said.

69-year-old alleged fentanyl dealer arrested by Petaluma police

PETALUMA, Calif. (KRON) -- A 69-year-old Petaluma man was arrested on Feb. 28 for allegedly selling fentanyl out of his home, the Petaluma Police Department said in a press release Wednesday. PPD officers received word that fentanyl was being sold out of a home on the 100 block of West Street. On Feb. 24, officers searched the home and found a bag containing about three ounces of suspected fentanyl, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
